INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY 2016
The Melbourne Centre of PEN will celebrate International Women’s Day with Judy Maddigan (first woman Speaker of Victorian Parliament) who will talk about the new Victorian Women’s HERitage Centre.
The event is free (gold coin donation) but please RSVP to firstname.lastname@example.org.
‘The Women’s HERitage Centre Victoria aims to educate, inspire, empower and shape the future by integrating and celebrating women’s distinctive contribution to the culture and history of Victoria.
It will build, record, arrange, support and provide information and education resources to enhance access to the achievements and history of women in Victoria, and to provide an information base for records that are held in other locations. As well as being a thorough repository of historical information the centre will also encompass a space to celebrate women in contemporary Victorian culture.’
This will be a great opportunity to ask Judy about the new venture and about women’s struggle for equality in Australia.
Judith Buckrich Vice-President of PEN Melbourne will introduce Judy.
