The plight of Behrouz Boochani, a Kurdish-Iranian journalist and writer detained on Manus Island since mid 2013, illustrates many of the problems and devastating human rights consequences of our current asylum seeker laws, policies and practices. The panel will consider the case, and its wider implications and what must be changed in order to prevent such violations of human rights.
